Compton’s Cafeteria
Compton’s Cafeteria was the site of one of the first recorded acts of queer resistance in the United States, 2 years before the Stonewall Riot, was the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot. That night the patrons fought back against police harassment, using coffee mugs, silverware, furniture and high heels as weapons. This project was inspired by their objects of protest. Also shown in the photos are teapots created by artist, Tindra Olsson-Hoffman.
